After working for over 30 years in a large metropolitan teaching hospital in various capacities within obstetrical services I realized that I brought something unique to the women that I cared for. As a nurturing person I knew that in every aspect of my work it was essential that every new mom and baby receive this type of care. My ability to nuture a woman, her baby and her family inspired me to create NurturingMom. I want to bring this service to you. As a Childbirth Educator: When teaching childbirth classes I saw prenatally how important the right kind of support was in helping women and their families prepare for birth and the new roles that follow. As a Doula and Coordinator of a hospital based Doula program: I supported many women through the process of birth, their birth choices and helped them to realize the kind of birth that they wanted. As a Mother-Baby nurse: I assisted many families as they began their transition into the new role of mother and father while gaining the confidence to parent their new baby. As a nurse on a telephone resource line: I developed skills at problem solving for new parents by "seeing" things through a parents eyes just by good listening skills on the phone. As a Lactation Consultant: I have watched how important it was for a woman to feel successful with the entire breastfeeding experience and how this can impact a woman’s relationship with her baby and her family. As a wife, mother, mother-in-law and grandmother: I continue to marvel at all of life's blessings. I bring to my clients the knowledge and experience that i have gained from all of these roles!
